Hello! I am Rachel Smith - expert communicator, group facilitator and cultural creative.
> I have extensive experience in corporate communications and brand identity design - from a decade in London and running my own graphic design agency in Cape Town for 17 years, to my current role as Communications Lead for a firm based in London.
> As a Transformational Guide, I have designed and facilitated deeply transformative experiences for individuals and groups for 15 years, from creative healing workshops, to deep listening circles, to large philanthropic events.
> I give special focus to accelerating radical social transformation projects throughout the African continent. We are disrupting systems and revolutionising education, allowing the youth to rise as self actualized leaders.
I was born in the Zambia, the heart of Africa - and so it is the new Africa in which I will always live, play and work.
I bring the full force of my intuitive abilities to whatever I am engaged in. I offer my colleagues and clients a blend of highly creative thinking and the heart intelligence needed to hold spaces for deeply meaningful and impactful work. CREATING SPACES FOR OTHERS TO EXPLORE, BE CURIOUS, GROW AND INNOVATE - WITH NEW LANGUAGES AND WAYS OF BEING - THIS IS MY PURPOSE. From that critical starting point I then tap into my world-wide-web of policy shapers and change makers - influencing and weaving connections that unite people in a way that fosters rapid and positive change.
MY CURRENT PROJECTS INCLUDE: > Co-creator of www.TheMovementinAfrica.org - bringing together the triad of social, ecological and economic issues into a systemic shift. Growing 1000 permaculture learning hub gardens in rural communities in South Africa, alongside circles for healing and transformation. > Communications Lead for The www.UbuntuLabInstitute.com Based on the Theory U method work of MIT & The Presencing Institute, we are 1000’s - co-shaping Africa’s renaissance. > Founder of The Circle Method - facilitate deeply transformational healing circles for corporates, GBV groups, teenagers, and private groups. > Process Art facilitator - creativity workshops - unleashing our full potential as individuals and groups.
Martin Kalungu-Banda. Senior Faculty Member for The Presencing Institute (MIT), founder of The Ubuntu.Lab Africa and international speaker shares:
'Rachel is a phenomenally skilled facilitator of personal and system transformation processes. Her capacity to connect with people through Head [thinking] and Heart [empathy] enables her to be both an effective and trusted helper. I have been fascinated by Rachel’s Cultural Quotient –ability to understand and relate with people across cultures –to awaken the best in people, teams and communities.'
